BEST...FIREBALL...EVER!
I absolutely love the way that fireball turned out, it looks so awesome! I took one like at that fireball, I just knew I had to show it leaving the atmosphere. I had toyed with the idea of a fire spell that could be seen from space, but a fireball leaving the stratosphere worked out even better. I also had fun with that sound effect joke (the idea for which came partially from my dealings with Xenosaga - specifically that scene where KOS-MOS can't talk because the air around her is too thin to carry her voice). But what really brings it all home is the dialogue. The stuff the Emerald Fiend says as he falls back down is hilarious, if I do say so myself.
Now, a lot of people will tell you that, because there is no atmosphere, and that fire needs oxygen in order to burn, there should be no fireball when spaceships explode in movies. Do not be fooled! The dolts forgot one thing: there's oxygen being carried on board the spaceships (otherwise all the people walking around the Death Star would have to be wearing spacesuits...which they're not...so there's oxygen...yeah). So yeah, rules for spaceships exploding in movies: fiery explosion yes, fiery explosion noise n - oh wait...if there's oxygen on board...and oxygen carries sound...never mind, keep the noise too.
Speaking of Xenosaga, I may have to write a review for that later. It was a good game, and had an absolutely fantastic storyline. Xenosaga II was good too, but I never quite finished it (not form lack of trying mind you, I can't beat the patriarch...). Also, I thought some of the new voice actors were could have been better. Chaos' was alright, but some of the other ones drove me crazy (especially KOS-MOS' new voice actor; androids should NOT have high squeaky voices! No, no, no!). I have not invested in Xenosaga III yet, but I'm certainly tempted to. I want to see where the storyline goes. Of course, if that's the case, it would probably be best if I beat II before beginning III. Hmm...
Oh and, before I forget, I finally got everything in our image gallery working. All the pics and pages are up, and there are no broken links. Check it out some time!
I should have all of the Weapons Monthlies up by tomorrow, and then the reviews will be up soon after.
Enjoy,
